I grew up in Johnstown, a small town in northern Colorado. I attended college at New Mexico State University, where I studied microbiology and was a four-year track and field student-athlete.
After undergrad, I married my sweetheart Allyson, and we began our life adventure together. I next attended Creighton University School of Dentistry. While at Creighton, I was elected class president and served on numerous student advisory boards. Also while at Creighton, I was gifted braces treatment by an Omaha orthodontist who quickly became my friend and mentor.
Being in his office for braces adjustment and watching my own smile transform, I could see firsthand how a smile could be changed and what a blast working with children and teens could be. I decided then that orthodontics was the path I wanted to follow.
After dental school, I was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force, completed a residency in advanced clinical dentistry, and was awarded Officer of the Year while serving in California.
